Celebrate Hanukkah

Around 200 BC, the Jewish Maccabees engaged in battle with The Syrian Greek Army. The Jews were overmatched in number, experience and weapons but ultimately victorious - seeing two amazing miracles.

(1) The first miracle is they reclaimed the Jerusalem Temple which had been desecrated.

(2) The second miracle was after the Jews entered the Temple they found a small jar of oil enough to light the Temple menorah for one day. But the oil is burned for eight days. It's called the "Miracle of Light" also known as Hanukkah.

John wrote of the feast of Hanukkah, "At that time the Feast of the Dedication took place in Jerusalem; it was winter, and Jesus was walking in the temple area, in the portico of Solomon." (John 10)

A few days before Jesus went to celebrate the miracle of light He made the statement, "I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." (John 8:12)

I'm thankful for the eight day miracle of light - but even more so I am thankful that Jesus is our eternal light. Jesus is our Hanukkah!

Celebrate the Miracle of Light!
Celebrate Jesus!
Happy Hanukkah!
